I was one of those students that had no idea what I wanted to do. I even procrastinated choosing a major for as long as possible! I landed on Urban and Environmental Policy (UEP) because I loved its interdisciplinary nature. As is not uncommon, my career is not directly related to my major. However, how my career began is 100% attributed to my Oxy connections! My work-study at Telefund provided me with phone experience and a post-grad friend from Glee Club recruited me for a paid Summer internship at a tech startup. After 3 months I was promoted to a full-time position as a Customer Success Manager. Now what is that? Customer Success Managers (CSMs) are a unique hybrid role between customer service and sales at software companies and startups. We’re responsible for maintaining customer loyalty, upselling existing customers to new features within the product, fostering long-term relationships with their customers, and ensuring that customers are achieving their goals.
