Bio:
I'm from Long Beach, CA, and I love languages and literature. Right now, after having spent a year doing virtual school at UCLA in their Post-Bacc Program, I'll be entering my first year of a 5-year PhD program in Comparative Literature. My research areas include Greek tragedy, the Graeco-Arabic Middle ages, lyric poetry, Galician/Spanish studies, medieval Islamic Spain, and feminist approaches to folklore--among many others. Since I work in Spanish, Arabic, and Latin, I ended up in this field of Medieval and Mediterranean Studies because I find the intersection of these languages and cultures fascinating (it also happens to be an area that is little-studied). I would like to be part of the mentor network to help anyone interested in pursuing graduate-level work in the humanities: I'm here to offer application advice, consulting on career paths (academia or otherwise), Fulbright conversations (ETA or Predoctoral).
Career Advice:
Don't take yourself too seriously; take what you do seriously.
